My EEGAFI Journey: From Growth to Greatness

Image
As graduation approaches, I feel a mix of excitement, gratitude, and nostalgia. The past two years at EEGAFI have been filled with unforgettable memories—classroom laughter, sleepless nights preparing for projects, and the joy of achieving milestones with my friends. I remember the struggles of adjusting to senior high school, balancing academics with personal responsibilities, and overcoming self-doubt. Each challenge shaped me into someone stronger and more determined. Now, as I prepare to walk across the stage, I carry both pride and humility. Pride for the hard work I invested, and humility for the support I received from teachers, classmates, and my family. Graduation is not just an ending—it is the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope and purpose.        EEGAFI has been more than just a school—it has been a training ground for life. Academically, I learned the importance of discipline and perseverance, especially in subjects that...

ICT Reflection

Image
ICT as a Tool for Communication, Education, and Economic Growth Information and Communication Technology has become a powerful force in shaping how individuals and communities connect, learn, and grow. Tasks that once required physical presence can now be done online, making communication faster and more accessible. Through ICT, information can be shared instantly, helping spread awareness about social issues, public safety, and community programs. This gap shows that while ICT can empower society, it can also exclude others if access is not made fair and inclusive. In the ed...

Reflection on Sinulog

Image
The Sinulog festival is more than a celebration; it is a living story of faith, history, and culture woven into the identity of the Filipino people . Its roots trace back to 1521, when Ferdinand Magellan gifted Queen Juana the image of the Santo Niño , sparking a devotion that bridged indigenous traditions with Christianity . That moment, marked by Queen Juana’s joyful dance, became the seed of a ritual that has endured through centuries.      The rediscovery of the Santo Niño in 1565 after conflict and fire reaffirmed the devotion, showing how faith can survive trials and be reborn stronger. By 1980, Sinulog transformed into the grand festival we know today, blending solemn religious rituals with vibrant cultural expression.      At its core, Sinulog is a prayer in motion. The dance—two steps forward and one step back—echoes the currents of the Pahina River , symbolizing life’s journey of progress and struggle. For devotees, it is ...

Faith, History, and Festivities

HISTORY:      The story of Sinulog began in 1521 , a pivotal moment when the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan arrived on the shores of Cebu . As a gift for the baptism of Hara Humamay (who was renamed Queen Juana ), Magellan presented her with a small wooden statue of the Santo Niño (the Child Jesus ). This moment is more than just a historical footnote; it is the bridge between the Philippines ' indigenous " pagan " roots and its deeply rooted Christian present. Legend says Queen Juana danced with joy upon receiving the image, marking the very first Sinulog dance . TIMELINE: 1521: The birth of the devotion with the arrival of Magellan and the gifting of the Santo Niño. 1565: After decades of conflict and fire, the image was miraculously rediscovered by Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi’s men in a pine box, sparking a renewed and permanent devotion. 1980: The Sinulog we know today was born. The first modern Sinulog parade was organized, turning a tradit...
